Kunjip is just solid for when you want some kalbijjim but also other dishes paired w ur meal. Cold noodles here are honestly not the best, esp for the price -- hansung nearby does it better. But portions are great here!one order of kalbijjim was perfect and maybe even too much as a side for 5 ppl. As a main dish tho, it may be good for maybe 3 ppl. Wait time wasn't too bad for 6 on a Friday evening, but it's always p crowded and loud as dinner time progresses here. Parking lot also get p packed. Maybe call ahead to assess the situation!

Wow! They completely renovated this place! Well done. It was kinda run down before but now it's modern and shiny inside. This was the 3rd time we came in 2 years so it was a surprise b/c it's been a while. Soooo, we decided we wanted to go eat out on Xmas! So what better restaurant than Kunjip and we thought a nice hot piping soup sounded really good. Also, don't think that many restaurants are open on Xmas. We came right when they opened in the morning and as we were finishing up the restaurant was getting kinda packed. They're known for their Korean soups but they have other things as well like Galbijjim, etc. We've tried a lot of their hot soups and they have all been delicious and the side dishes are pretty bangin' too. I wanna try their other food items as well one day. This place gets busy! Especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

Good place to get beefy Korean food. Tasty and efficient. My friends and I arrived at 5:40pm on Tuesday afternoon. We were seated within 10 minutes at a booth by the window. One thing I liked about this location compared to other places in the Bay Area for galbi jjim is how many windows there are providing for more natural lighting and an airier space. We ordered 3 things for 3 people which we knew would result in leftovers. One of our party did not eat spicy so we ordered 2 non spicy dishes and asked them to make the cheese galbi jjim less spicy - which was very very low spice and tolerable for our non spicy eater. The food and 3 banchans came out quickly. Everything tasted great to me. Seol leong tang was rich and soothing. The brisket in the soup was so tender. Mul naeng myun - super refreshing and the noodles had a perfectly chewy texture. This dish wasn't as good for leftovers though so I would prioritize finishing this over other dishes. Cheese galbi jjim - maybe because there were more veggies than some other places but I felt like this galbi jjim was "lighter" than others in the Bay Area and I could eat more without feeling weighted down. It was still quite rich and flavorful. The one drawback was that the rice cake felt a little undercooked and not chewy enough.

Wow, it has been a long while since we have been here. Prior, they only had soups and were famous for their soups. Now they have cold noodle dishes and Galbi Jjim. Not sure if there is an ownership change...? Also, we like the overdue remodel of the place. Glad you are still so successful, maybe even more so now. Quality/Quantity - They were known for their soups, but from what I can tell your Galbi Jjim is also a hit. Since we can not really have leftovers, we actually did NOT over order. Which meant that I was not allowed to order the Galbi Jjim, lol. So we got the following: Seol Leong Tang - My wife's favorite (I am not a soup person). This comes "tasteless," and my wife says we are supposed to add salt. I am sure I did this so wrong... This dish/soup is NOT for me. Bibim Naeng Myun - Korean cold noodles; this was just okay. The flavors were good, but the 4 slices of beef was a tease... 3 generous banchan, made well and free refills - Radish, napa cabbage & cucumber. Overall, a small menu done well. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant, enjoy the new (well new for me) remodel. CRAZY busy!! It was also this way before. And they are VERY strict on seating only entire parties. Lastly, I suggest waiting near the Yelp wait list iPad as they can blur out your name and if you do not respond fast enough, they move on... It's obvious that turning tables is their #1 priority. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 9pm or 10pm. Their website differs slightly. Bathrooms can use some attention. Service - Below average. They were very focused on turning tables and the service reflects it. Everyone is in a hurry so you have to "force" service. First of all, they "skipped" our name on the waitlist, but my wife just happened to be in front and questioned her again to get us seated. We had to ask for everything we needed; forks, extra napkins, etc. Price - $46, reasonable price for the food, but not for the lack of service. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1990 and now with the second generation taking over the business.
